Johannes Hofmann
Johannes Hofmann has been working since 2005 as a composer, theater musician and music producer as well as musical director. Already during his training as a media designer at Bayerischer Rundfunk he created his first compositions and sound collages for film and theater. He studied music - including composition (Prof. Daniel Ott and trumpet with Prof. Konradin Groth) at the University of Arts (UDK Berlin) and History at the Humboldt University in Berlin.
In his classical works, Johannes Hofmann often deals with current socio-critical topics, always in order to break up the often intellectual discourse through the music and thus enable an emotional access.
In his work "Humanity" Opus 53 for large choir, solo soprano and chamber orchestra, he addresses the theme of humanity in connection with refugees and the refugee crisis, his "Symphony No1" Op 56 for large orchestra, solo trumpet, solo cello and solo marimbaphone is dedicated to "100 years of German history" and the subject of the individual in different political systems. His last work for large choir, saxophone quartet and percussion quartet "Nihil Esse Respondendum" is dedicated to the subject of tolerance for ambiguity and diversity.
Johannes Hofmann has been working since 2005 at Thalia Theater Hamburg, Burgtheater Wien, Theater Basel, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Staatstheater Dresden, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Schauspiel Düsseldorf, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Komische Oper Berlin, Berliner Ensemble, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Maxim Gorki Berlin, Garnd Opera Geneve, NT Gent, Festival Avignon, Schweizer Rundfunk, Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, NDR, BR und Deutschlandfunk. His works were played by Komische Oper Berlin, der Württembergischen Philhamonie Reutlingen, Elbtonal Percussion Quartett, Saxophonquartett Clair_Obscur, Runghold Ensemble Hamburg, HAW Chor Hamburg, Haller Sinfonie Orchester and other Choirs and Ensmebles.
He worked with Ronny Jakubaschk, Franziska Autzen, Antu Romero Nunes, Katrin Plötner, Louka/ Lisa Marie Neumann, Martin Laberenz, Anna Bergmann, Elsa-Sophie Jach, Franziska Stuhr, Peter Kastenmüller, Armin Petras, Philipp Becker, Antony Hermus, Dan Ettinger, Gabriel Venzago, Frida Österberg, Matthias Jakisic, Frieder Hepting, Marina Rebeka, Michael Volle, Nicole Chevalier, Drifa Hansen, Fried Dähn, Matthew Brown, Sparks, uvm.
